Check out this video for my answer to the most commonly asked question “where do I find clients?”… virtual or not, you need to do this.

You are so right. Physical networking goes a long ways. Word travels fast so it’s just a matter of meeting that one person that your business name can travel like wild fire.

Speaking from experience trying to find subcontracting jobs from other VAs, which is my industry focus. I dreaded writing a proposals. My trick was to keep it simple.

My biggest question has multiple components. How do your transition from general chit-chat into what you do for a living without sounding pitchy?

My fav question to ask Sheri is simply “tell me about your business?”… and then be curious re: what they offer, how they are structured, etc. If/where you find something that you could help them with let them know “that is something I love to help my clients with”. There can be diff ways to approach this but it can be that simple.

Talk about timing Margaret, love it! let me know how your chamber meetings go… always love a story ‘from the trenches’

Great topic! Just today I also put an ad in the local business paper because there are more and more local businesses interested in Social Media and how to get started with it, so why not make contact with them, too, instead of only relying on one’s website?

Great advice, Tina! I just attended my local chamber’s happy hour event last week. I spoke with a few people about their businesses and exchanged business cards. And then a day or so later, sent them an e-mail to let them know how nice it was to meet them and be put at ease by them as a newbie to the event.
