As much as I love working online, it is always a treat to do a real “hold it in your hands” info product.
I recently teamed up with Chris Barrow to put his Coaching Business Forum 2 day training on audio CD. Isn’t it a beaut!
It was a relatively painless experience. I worked with the talented DanDroid to do the CD masters and label design. We sent it off to replication and after a bit of a shipping delay we had 100 shiny new CD packages ready to ship.
For those interested, here is a breakdown of the expenses…
(all in USD)
Professional Audio Recording $1200
This training was recorded at the live Vancouver event in September 2004. I’m telling ya, the professional recording makes a *huge* difference in the quality of the audio… i highly recommend going professional for any of your big ticket products.
CD Mastering $750
When creating a CD product you need an audio pro to master the CDs for you. This master is what all the other CDs are copied from, so it is very important that this is done well. We also added a little bit of intro music to our CDs just for fun!
CD Label & Package Design $285
We had Dan do the labels for the CDs, as well as the design for the package cover.
CD Replication $1850
This is the actual production of the CDs, we did a run of 100 sets with 12 CDs in each set (total of 1200 CDs). This also included kitting the CDs into the packages, one heck of a deal.
Shipping $450
This includes shipping of the CD covers to the replication guy, and then shipping the 100 sets to our fulfillment house. We use iFulfill.com to ship our CDs, they are great!
Total costs ~$4500, which works out to be $45 per set.
