Tina,

I laughed when I read this because I would've done something like that when I started. Now I laugh (gently) and tell them "I don't work on weekends!" and they somehow survive. I also have told clients "I don't give out my cell phone number." "I don't answer e-mails in the evening." and "Sure, I can get that to you by (insert 2-3 days time), will that work for you?"

You are so right - I have great relationships with clients now because we have a mutual respect. And the ones that don't aren't my DREAM customers so "Buh-bye!"

That is so true. Setting boundries should be one of the first things done when taking on a client, it should be written into the contract. It does not have to be a big deal. If your client is stuck and you have the time, do the work but charge them extra.

I love this post! This is denfintely something I will reference frequently. It is especially convenient since we are in the middle of relocating. So I get to spring clean and start with clean, freah and energizing slate. Thank you for this seeminingly obvious, but often overlooked insight.
