Great stuff! Checking references is a great start. For virtual based firms, a good fit is crucial. You can’t overstate the importance of a trial period or trial project(s). This means time and money. There will be costs! Once you’ve identified the right person, the costs will have justified. Your organization is positioned to move forward.
Oh the nightmares I could tell you! LOL.
But seriously, there are so many AWESOME support peeps out there. The trick is to do your homework and then NOT give away the farm the first time you work together!
So give them a small project but don’t give them carte blanche (sp?) access to your biz.
You’ll know quickly. Like you said … date first. Marriage LATER.
Great post, Tina.

Glad to hear you say that a trial relationship is the best way to begin, Tina.
I like that – great reminder to date first – makes it less scary! Thanks for the great tips.
