I’m curious – are you ever lonely working from home? This came up in a discussion today in our OBM Mastermind group – and it made me go hmmm…
I’ve always joked with people that I rarely leave my house – which between my work and my children is quite true. Outside of taking the girls to dayhome/preschool and our weekend family outings I don’t get out much. And it’s not really anything that bothers me at all – I don’t feel like i’m missing anything, or perhaps i’m too busy to notice if i’m missing anything?
Earlier this year I was doing a bootcamp class twice a week, at my friend Tara’s urging… and it was a blast! As much as I enjoyed the class itself (talk about a workout, phew) I equally enjoyed getting out and having some fun with the gals in the class. We quite enjoyed whining our way through class together, LOL. And I also shut down the local Starbuck’s with my friend Karri Flatla once every couple of months – we are the only virtual working folks in our city (that we know of) and we like to escape the house every once in a while and party hardy until they kick us out at 10pm, LOL.
I’m beginning to think it’s time to schedule some fun ME time in my life again – I know if I don’t schedule it then it will never happen!
That being said – I don’t think i’m lonely. The relationships that i’ve grown online over the years and the new people I continue to meet on a daily basis leave me feeling very connected with the world. I don’t think we need to see people face-to-face to make a connection, we can certainly connect and create fulfilling relationships in other ways – especially in this world of twitter, facebook and iphones.
Although nothing beats a night out with the girls for a quick coffee or drink – anyone up for joining me? 😉
